Winn Austin

Born in Guyana, joined parents in London as a young teen. Always felt like an individual. Grew up loving both sports and fashion. Enjoyed being on stage, finding it a safe place and position of strength. Credits growing up in Guyana for strong sense of self.

Entered and won gay beauty pageants and started modelling for fashion labels in the UK and Europe. Was not part of a specific scene but regularly partied in the clubs. Was affected by the loss of older friends to AIDS. Thinks there is less gay community now due to lots of little groups. Prefers fewer labels and more simplicity.
