Born and raised in Brixton of supportive Jamaican parents; Out since 16 and diagnosed HIV positive in 1986. Involved since then in activism around black men’s sexual health and HIV. Explains that black gays socialised together for safety and because of cultural norms; details the party and club scene in the 80s.

Explains how intersectionality was and is missing from major gay campaigning; the limits of a politically Black identity; the formation of his identity as a black gay man. Laments the lack of documentation of black gay history and the lack of QPOC people working in HIV today.
